Such ecosystems provide ecosystem services<\/strong> such as food provisioning, climate regulation, air and water purification, recreational and cultural services, thus contributing to climate change<\/strong> adaptation<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n To comprehend the ecosystem functioning<\/strong> and related changes through time, it is necessary to conduct high resolution monitoring<\/strong> and long term observations<\/strong> in the environment. This will allow to acquire big amount of data (big data<\/strong>) for describing and understating the on going changes and building strategies for sustainable management<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n In order to protect this peculiar Bay, <\/span>Smart Bay Santa Teresa<\/b>– a <\/span>natural laboratory<\/strong> for <\/span>research<\/strong>, <\/span>technology<\/strong>, <\/span>sustainable tourism<\/strong> and\u00a0<\/span>mollusk<\/span>\u00a0farming<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0– has been set up.\u00a0ENEA, CNR e INGV, Comune di Lerici, Scuola di Mare S. Teresa and Cooperativa Mitilicoltori Associati, with the contributes of <\/span>all users<\/strong> of the Bay, aim to make the Bay an <\/span>ecosystem model<\/strong> where Nature, man and
